The finish you see in these photos is our signature blend — two natural oils layered by hand in a technique we developed in our workshop and keep to ourselves. It gives the beech a warm depth a single stain can’t, and no two crates come out exactly alike. It’s the color customers ask about most. A SLIDING DOOR, NOT A SWINGING ONE

The star-pattern door glides sideways — no swing radius eating into your room, nothing to bump into at night, and with the door slid open it becomes a free-flowing den your dog wanders in and out of. The star cutouts pour light and air through the front while your dog keeps a full view of the family.

THE 15MM DIFFERENCE
Most crates in this category are built from thin MDF or 10–12mm panels. We build in 15mm (0.59″) beech plywood, and here’s what that actually means for you:

Moisture: MDF swells and softens when it meets water — a tipped bowl, a puppy accident, a damp nose against the wall. Beech plywood shrugs it off.
Strength where it matters: screws and hinges grip solid wood layers, not compressed dust — so doors and latches stay tight for years, not months.
Real wood, inside and out: MDF is wood fiber and glue under a printed foil “wood look.” Ours is beech through and through — sand it, re-oil it, repair it, love it for a decade.
The feel: 15mm beech is noticeably heavier and stiffer. And because this crate sits directly on the floor with no legs, it doesn’t wobble, shift or rattle when your dog moves. Set a TV on top; it won’t flinch. Pick it up and you feel the difference immediately.

I do the woodworking; my wife Eylem sews the cushion and does the finishing. Each piece is our own original design, made to order in premium beech plywood — a dense European hardwood prized in furniture making — compliant with U.S. formaldehyde emission standards (CARB Phase 2 & TSCA Title VI), finished with pet-safe oils.
